Sword Worlds (Gram) Forces for SGII

I have lot of GZG Neu Swabian League miniatures so it makes sense to use them somewhere significant IMTU.

Lacking any Scandinavian type forces to represent the Sword Worlds, the next best thing would be to use the Germanic NSL.


Sword World Panzerkampfzugtruppen (Gram)
Sword Worlds power armour is big, bulky and slow compared to Imperial Battle Dress. The PzKpfZ III Power Armour Suit employ a variety of infantry weapons adapted for PA use. Such as the SGKpfZ 60 APW, MGKpfZ 66, SKKpfZ 51, and the PzShK XII. PA units operate leaner than standard Panzergrenadier or Jäger units, with only three squads of six men.

TL12 Sword Worlds (Gram) Panzerkampfzugtruppen Platoon
The platoon is carried into battle in Pz441 GEV APCs (Imperial designation ‘Masala’), these APCs are generally employed as Battle Taxis, but after they drop off their passengers they function as separate units. The Platoon Commander and Platoon Sergeant are also squad leaders for first and second squads respectively.

Sword Worlds Panzergrenadieren (Gram)
Sword Worlds Mechanised Infantry are equipped to TL 12 standards and wear Combat Armour-11. Their main personal weapon is the ACR w/GL, squad support weapons include PGMP-12s and Portable TAC Missile Launchers. Snipers are equipped with Gauss Rifles, (Sacnoth mechanised infantry are equipped with laser rifles instead of Gauss rifles). Immediate heavy support is provided by LRF Gauss Guns, RAM Mortars, Direct Fire Fusion Guns (The Plasma A, B, C and Fusion X, Y, and Z guns) and Auto-Gls.
 According to GZG website and SGII p.68 these are from left to right: Front Row: Laser Rifle, Gauss Rifle, and Back Row: LMG, PGMP-12, Portable TAC Missile Launcher and the ACR w/GL. Each trooper is wearing Combat Armour.

The Pz441 Kastenwagen GEV APC
Brigade Models’ Pz441 is a pretty good match for the Masala APC in MT 101 Vehicles p.9. However since the model is designed to be a GEV my Sword Worlders will be equipped with GEV vehicles. Not that they do not have Grav technology, just that it is not standard throughout the Confederation Military.

This is Brigade Models' PZ441 Kastenwagen Platoon APC and seems to be the best choice to represent the Sword Worlds Masala Grav APC, judging from these pictures at Brazos Evil Empire. I have to get me some.

TL12 Sword Worlds (Gram) Panzergrenadier Company Level Assets
A panzergrenadier company has numerous assets to support the troops in the field. Among them are Heavy Weapons teams, Tank Hunter teams, Sniper teams, Forward Observer teams and Cavalry Scouts. Heavy Weapons Teams usually have their own transport, usually a Pz441(a) which can carry four such teams, but usually carries one or two. The Cavalry Scouts have their own transport, and the other teams usually catch a ride with one of the panzergrenadier squads.

Called a 'Fan Bike' this vehicle is in fact a low powered grav vehicle. Its grav modules have enough power to keep it off the ground and provide the occasional boost allowing it to jump obstacles. Motive power is provided by two directed thrust fans. 


TL12 Sword Worlds (Gram) Cavalry Troop
Gram Cavalry units are mounted on ‘FanBikes’ sometimes called ‘Skimmers’. Primarily tasked with reconnaisance, they are sometimes called on to conduct lightning raids using their on board Auto-cannon.

Sacnoth is the only other Sword World able to provide TL12 forces to the Confederation. For the most part Sacnoth forces are identical to Gram forces. The only real difference is that Sacnoth forces do not have dedicated sniper teams, instead sniper teams are integral to each squad and are frequently detached during operations, additionally Sacnoth snipers use a Laser Sniping Rifle.
