Classic Traveller Weapons: Bullpup Conifguration

My Auzhan Sector setting uses LBB 1-3 almost exclusively, with a few elements from later materials.

I believe that the first bullpup weapon was designed near the very end of the 19th century; therefore I've made it available from TL-5 onwards.

Bullpup Configuration - reduces a weapons overall length by 25% and weight by 10%. This can be applied to any Carbine, Rifle, Automatic Rifle, Shotgun, or SMG. The bullpup weapon will use the same DEX, range and armour mods as the standard weapon. A bullpup weapon cannot be fitted with a folding stock.

Bullpup Carbine (2,825 grams loaded; Cr210; TL 5): A variant on the standard carbine, firing the same small calibre round. Bullpup configuration reduces the overall length of the carbine tconsiderably, without shortening the barrel (which would reduce the effective range). A magazine containing ten rounds is inserted into the underside of the carbine, behind the pistol grip, and one round is fired with each pull of the trigger. Carbine ammunition is not interchangeable with any other type of ammunition. In essence, a carbine is a short rifle, firing a cartridge of smaller, lighter calibre. A sling usually allows the carbine to be carried on the shoulder and out of the way. A carbine may be fitted with telescopic or electronic sights, but cannot be fitted with a folding stock.

Length: 560 mm. Weight, unloaded: 2,700 grams (loaded magazine weighs 125 grams). Base price: Cr200 (loaded magazine: Cr10).

Referee: Bullpup configuration reduces a weapons overall length by 25% and weight by 10%. The Bullpup carbine uses the same DEX, range and armour mods as the standard carbine.

Bullpup Rifle (4,100 grams loaded; Cr220; TL 5): A variant on the standard military arm, firing the same ammunition. Bullpup configuration reduces the overall length of the rifle to that of a carbine, without shortening the barrel (which would reduce the effective range). It also has the added advantage of reducing the overall weight somewhat. Standard equipment includes provisions for attaching a bayonet and telescopic sights, and a shoulder sling. A twenty-round magazine is attached behind the pistol grip, and one round is fired with each pull of the trigger. Rifle ammunition may also be used in automatic rifles; rifle and auto rifle magazines are interchangeable, and weigh the same. Bullpup rifles may be fitted with telescopic or electronic sights, but cannot be fitted with a folding stock.

Length: 750 mm. Weight, unloaded: 3,600 grams (loaded magazines weigh 500 grams). Base price: Cr200 (loaded magazine: Cr20).

Referee: Bullpup configuration reduces a weapons overall length by 25% and weight by 10%. The Bullpup rifle uses the same Dex, range and armour mods as the standard rifle.

Bullpup Automatic Rifle (5,000 grams loaded; Cr1,020; TL 6): The bullpup variant of the automatic rifle is the same weapon with a shorter overall length and reduced weight. Normally, the automatic rifle fires in bursts of four bullets for each pull of the trigger. It may be switched to semi-automatic fire at the end of a combat round, after all firing, in which case it is treated as a rifle until switched back. Ammunition and magazines are identical to those used for the rifle. The automatic rifle is equipped with a sling (which allows the weapon to be slung from the shoulder while carried in the ready to fire position), a bipod, and a muzzle brake to steady the gun while firing. Some versions of the automatic rifle are available which use 100 round belts of ammunition (not usable in rifles, however). Such belts cost the equivalent of six loaded magazines and weigh 2.5 kg. Reloading with a new belt requires three combat rounds.

Length: 750 mm. Weight, unloaded: 4,500 grams (loaded magazine: 500 grams). Base price: Cr1,000 (loaded magazine: Cr20; complete 100-round belt: Cr120).

Referee: Bullpup configuration reduces a weapons overall length by 25% and weight by 10%. The Bullpup automatic rifle uses the same DEX, range and armour mods as the standard version, with the following exception: Use the range mods for the rifle at Close and Short ranges.

Bullpup Shotgun (4,125 grams loaded; Cr160; TL 5): The bullpup variant of the standard shotgun, is often regarded as a combat shotgun as it is equipped with a box magazine. The shotgun has an 18mm diameter barrel and fires shells containing either six 7mm bullets, or one hundred and thirty 3mm pellets. In each case, the projectiles weigh a total of 30 grams. Velocity for the projectiles is about 350 meters per second. A box magazine containing 10 shells is inserted under the barrel, behind the pistol grip; cartridges are then fed automatically into the shotgun for firing. Reloading consists of replacing the magazine and takes one combat round. One shot is fired for each pull of the trigger. Shotguns are equipped with a sling for carrying, but the bullpup version cannot be fitted with a folding stock.

Length: 750 mm. Weight, unloaded: 3,375 grams (loaded magazine: 750 grams). Base price: Cr150 (loaded magazine: Cr10).

Referee: Bullpup configuration reduces a weapons overall length by 25% and weight by 10%. The Bullpup shotgun uses the same DEX, range and armour mods as the standard version, with the following exception: Use the range mods for the rifle at Close and Short ranges.

Bullpup Submachinegun (2,750 grams loaded; Cr520; TL 5): A small bullpup automatic weapon designed to fire pistol ammunition. Magazines holding 30 cartridges are inserted into the weapon behind the pistol grip. The gun fires four rounds per pull of the trigger. Submachinegun ammunition (but not magazines) is interchangeable with automatic pistol ammunition. Most submachineguns have slings for ease of carrying. The Bullpup submachinegun cannot be fitted with a folding stock.

Length: 337 mm. Weight, unloaded: 2,250 grams (loaded magazine: 500 grams). Base price: Cr500 (loaded magazine: Cr20).

Referee: Bullpup configuration reduces a weapons overall length by 25% and weight by 10%. The Bullpup submachinegun uses the same DEX, range and armour mods as the standard version.
