Classic Traveller Weapons: Selective Fire

My Auzhan Sector setting uses LBB 1-3 almost exclusively, with a few elements from later materials.

Selective Fire for standard Book 1 fire arms (and lasers). The Rifle already has an automatic version available in Book 1, but the Carbine, Shotgun, and the Automatic Pistol do not and the following is my method of adding them into the game. The greater rate of fire places greater strain on the weapon, mostly in the form of heat, a heavier barrel is the most common way to deal with this issue. So, a selective fire version of any of the above weapons will be 25% heavier (base weight) to reflect this.

The two automatic weapons in Book 1 (the Automatic Rifle and Submachinegun), both have -2 and +2 for required and advantageous Dex DMs. Which suggests that the same should apply to automatic (selective fire) versions of other weapons. IMTU I substitute only where these would change the DM.

Since the only difference between the Rifle and Automatic rifle is the latter’s automatic fire, they should technically have the same range and armour mods, the difference in mods is therefore the difference between single shot and automatic fire. So, I’ve come up with the following modifications to apply to the weapons standard range and weapons matrix mods.

                Range Matrix

    Close    Short    Med    Long    Vlong

    -             -            +2     +2       +1

                        Weapons Matrix

Nothing    Jack    Mesh    Cloth    Reflec    Ablat    Cbt Armour

    +3            +3       +2        +2        +4        +2        +2

Additionally you may want to provide magazines with a greater capacity. I increase the magazine weight by the percentage of capacity increase, so since a 20 rnd Rifle magazine weighs 500g, a 30 rnd rifle magazine should weigh 750g.
