Library Data: Brulli

Brulli is an independent world in The Void subsector of the Auzhan Sector within known space. It has a class A starport (surface installation only), with a shipyard (Brulli Yards). Brulli Yards can produce starships and non-starships up to 5000 tons.

Brulli is actually an asteroid colony, there are only about 500 people living here, all of whom are descendants of the original colonists. These 500 or so Brullians live an enviable lifestyle of luxury and excess. This extravagant lifestyle is supported by the work of thousands of robots. Brullians are gestated in vitro and are raised ina  creche by nannybots. At age 18 a Brullian must decide whether to become a "Citizen" and live a life of unfettered luxury or become an "Exile" and work for a living. Most Brullians choose citizenship, remaining ignorant of the outside universe, for they will never leave their idyllic habitat. For the average Brullian, Brulli is a paradise, every want and need is catered to by the central computer, and its robotic workforce. These robots perform all menial and dangerous tasks, such as mining the asteroids, maintaining the hydroponic farms, manufacturing, food processing and any other day to day tasks required to keep a population of 500 or so people alive on an asteroid in space. Most Brullians will never know the full extent of the robots' task. Only Brullian Exiles have even an inkling of what goes on outside the citizens' idyllic world, conversely they will never know the life of a citizen.

Exiles are trained and educated to undertake a given career, and usually work alone assisted by robots, each career is tasked with protecting and/or providing for the continued idyllic existence of citizens. They will never be allowed to enter the idyllic world of the citizens.

To outsiders Brulli appears to be a society of hightech robots, yet every now and again a group of robots will include one, possibly two humans, who are apparently Brullians. These human Brullians are sometimes in charge, but more often they are not, but appear to be deferred to in some ways by the robots. These humans refer to themselves as exiles.

Brullian Exiles, apparently, choose to be so at age 18, while the majority of their creche mates choose citizenship. What exactly that entails beyond a supposed life of luxury is unknown. Sometimes a Brullian ship will leave an exile behind when it leaves a world. The exile in question is simply discharged from service, often with little or no explanation. These discharged exiles usually have some personal belongs and funds, and may also have a pension set up by the Brullian authorities, whoever they are.

Brulli is in fact a popular tourist destination for the wealthy. Fully automated, tourist hotels and resorts have been created by hollowing out several asteroids. All appear to be very high class establishments, with full automation and full robotic service, offering a variety of services. The tourist resorts and the citizens habitat are kept separate. All non-Brullian ships and even non-military Brullian ships are intercepted upon entry to the system and escorted to the relevant docking facility to conduct their business.

Referee: Brullian ships are equipped with disintegrators instead of lasers, these have the accuracy of beam lasers and the destructive power of pulse lasers.

I've started using the world tags from "Stars Without Number" and have attached Hatred and Secret Masters to Brulli. Who hates whom and who the secret masters are is left to the referee. For myself I have a vague notion that it is the robots who hate the citizens, but are prevented from acting on that hatred by their programming. I have yet to decide who the secret masters are.
