Intake 2016/11
New recruits have arrive in the MAJARverse, this time Darkest Star Venturians.
The box arrived today, 19 days after the order was made. Not bad. Packaged in the usual small postal box, with in zip lock bags and padded out with newspaper to stop them rattling around the box.
The squad included 11x individual poses, plus 1x KIA figure with a rather large exit wound in the back of his head.
When I compared them to my Eureka Ventaurans, they came up a millimetre or two short.
They also have different weapons, packs, web equipment and the helmet is a little different. The armour is similar but is also noticeably different. Given the differences between Ventaurans and Venturians, I was tempted to employ them as different factions.
On closer inspection of the figures I noticed the Venturians appear to be carrying far more equipment on their webbing. The Ventauran Pack is rectangular and extends to the buttocks, while the Venturian pack is like an inverted 'A', and only reaches the waist of the figure. The packs are roughly the same width and depth, but the Ventauran is longer.
The Venturians all appear to have about a half dozen pouches on their belts, carry a side arm and I think a knife or bayonet of some sort. To me they appear to be carrying a similar amount of equipment as the Ventaurans but is is carried in/on their webbing. Meaning they could probably drop their packs and still be able to fight for a few days with what they carry on their persons.
I've opted to use the Ventaurans and Venturians in the same faction, with the Ventaurans representing standard Lift Infantry, and the Venturians representing Commandos.
Sixteen men, organised into 2x five man fire teams and 1x command team of six men, make up a Commando Platoon. Close support is provided by S'orhan LODAVs.
The two fire teams include 1x ACR, 1x Gauss Marksman, 1x Plasma Rifle, 1x Accelerator Carbine, and 1x Accelerator Rifle.
The Marksman and Accelerator Rifle can function independently as support weapons or can add there fire to the squads FP.
The Command Team carries 1x Commander w/Accelerator Carbine, 1x Tech w/Accelerator Carbine, 1x IAVR Gunner (Also w/Accelerator Carbine), 1x Rifleman w/ACR and 2x Snipers w/Laser Sniper Rifle.
Weapons
Advanced Combat Rifle FP: 2, Impact: D10
Gauss Marksman's Rifle FP: D10, Impact: D12
Plasma Rifle FP: D6, Impact: D12*
Accelerator Carbine FP: 2, Impact: D12
Accelerator Rifle FP: D8, Impact: D12
IAVR FP: D10, Impact: D12*
Laser Sniper Rifle FP: D12, Impact D8
Commando Fire Teams lack the fire power of a Lift Infantry Squad, but their training and experience the difference.
I'll stat out the S'orhans later.
Five Alpha, out.
The box arrived today, 19 days after the order was made. Not bad. Packaged in the usual small postal box, with in zip lock bags and padded out with newspaper to stop them rattling around the box.
As you can see the order consisted of a platoon of S'orhan LODAV GIFVs, a Squad of Venturian Lift Infantry and a command element.
The S'orhans are the first resin models I've ever handled. I noticed a soapy or powdery feel to them. The detail is very good. There is some flash however, very fine near the rear doors, but a considerable chunk was found under the front of two of them.
