     Not a particularly gifted student and clearly not interested in learning, Mariano tried and failed to enlist in the Navy, the reason given for his rejection, was "a clearly deficient level of education with limited common sense" or words to that effect. 

    Taking it kind of personally Mariano decided he would strike out on his own.

Referee: Unfortunately it appears that Mariano was killed in his very first term, before learning anything. I decided to let him live instead. He is now an 18 year old completely unskilled NPC, with a dislike for the services, extending to hatred for the navy in particular. 

    Mariano might make for an interesting raw recruit, with little or no knowledge of the larger universe and a chip on his shoulder.
