       Harry, (yes, his personal name is Harry), comes from Iapetus where it is customary when giving your name, to give your family name first, followed by your personal name. Naturally, with such a custom, family is very important to Petusians.

    Harry wanted to be a soldier. Why? He honestly can't tell you, except to say that he has always wanted to be a soldier since he was a little kid. Since Iapetus doesn't have any military forces, Harry had to sign on with an off world mercenary unit. Not having much experience in these things he signed on with the first unit he could find. As it happened that unit was "Ricard's Legion" commanded by Captain Matt. 

    Harry was taught how to shoot (Rifle-1) and bayonet his enemies (Bayonet-1), as well as drive a variety of ground vehicles in all sorts of conditions (ATV-1). Training which served him well over the next few years, keeping him alive and also seeing that he rose through the ranks, eventually being commissioned (LT. SMG-1 and Leader-1) and then promoted again (CPT. Tactics-1) as the Legion expanded from company to battalion strength. He was issued a submachinegun on being commissioned, but opted to keep his rifle, using his SMG as a sidearm. 

    The Legion acquired some new grav APCs and Harry made sure he learned how to operate them as well as command them (Air/raft-1).

    A shortage of officers saw the Legion activate the retention clause included in Harry's service contract (double 6 on re-enlistment), although, in truth, he had no wish to leave, that proved an eye-opener for him and he decided to pay closer attention to such contractual details in future (Admin-1).

    Having served 12 years in the Legion, Harry was beginning to think of it as a young man's game and decided to get out and maybe seek a slightly less dangerous occupation. He mustered out with a fair amount saved (Cr40,000), and a couple of travel vouchers to get him home (Mid Psge).

    He's currently looking for something a little less dangerous, perhaps working aboard a merchant ship or perhaps he'll try his hand at speculative trade.

Referee: Harry can be found at any starport that is located one jump from Iapetus. He's seriously thinking about spec trade at this point; he's got 40k and one travel voucher. He could buy a small load of goods, pay the shipping costs and travel with it to negotiate the sale price at the destination. Using his Cr40k, travel voucher and his Admin skill to negotiate price. 

    Harry is a bit more careful about what he signs these days, he does not want a repeat of the retention clause, so he reads everything he has to sign, making sure there are no surprises. 

    Note: Ricard's Legion is modelled on something called "la Légion étrangère". Captain Matt was from a world called New France (or Nouvelle-France in the local language).  He formed his own mercenary unit basing its organisation and customs on what he knew from his days in la Légion étrangère.
